MaybeToday.org was launched on March 1st, 2008, to serve as a storyboard and sounding board for my thinking, and perhaps even to be of some small service to those who come across it and find it useful.
I’ll use the site to write about things that interest me; things that are important to me. I’ll write about what I believe in, and I’ll say what I think is important to say. I’ll try not to waste time, because I believe that time is precious – and I become more deeply convinced of that each day.
I think reality is important, and I’ll probably write a lot about reality. I’ll write about how people perceive reality, and more importantly, how people understand reality. I think it’s profoundly important that not everybody thinks reality is important. This is a mystery (one not of the sacred sort) that will occupy me from time to time.
I’m interested in marriage and family, and in family life, and I’ll write about some of the issues that affect family life in our world – as I consider these some of the most important matters of our time.
God is at the center of my life, and I will write about my understanding of God (or lack thereof). It seems silly to say that God is important, so I won’t say it.
I’ll write about worship and prayer, and about how they come together in liturgy, I’ll write about faith, and how it seems to me it can be lived out in the world.
I’ll write about Catholicism and what it means to be Church. I have a hard time thinking of anything more important than that.
I’ll probably write quite a bit about the Bible, about studying the Bible, and about tools for Bible study.
I’ll write about other books as well – I have a big soft spot for books, and I think some of them are important. I think it’s important to know the difference between important books and unimportant books.
I’ll write some about music. I’ll write about learning and education. I’ll write some about politics, about mass media, maybe even a bit about sports. I’ll write about my life, and the things I think about.
I hope someone reads some of it, and maybe even chooses to engage me in discussion. But whether or not that turns out to be the case, I thank God for the time to work these things out in my own mind.
If you’re interested, I’ve written an entry that provides some background about me. I’ve toyed with the idea of inviting others who share my Hope to contribute to the site as authors, and I may yet pursue that.
The views expressed on this site are solely those of the author(s), and do not represent the views of the author’s employer, Church, or other affiliate organizations.
I generally leave comments open on posts and pages, so feel free to jump in. Though I haven’t enforced it programmatically, I prefer that commenters use their real names, since I think it’s important to be who you really are. My Comment policy is to insist on respectfulness and civility. I’d encourage anyone so inclined to respectfully disagree with me, but I will promptly delete anything I deem to be blasphemous or otherwise unacceptable.
